Friends for Life and a Sketch

Have you ever sat down to create a card but didn’t know here to start? Let me introduce you to the magic of card sketches, they can be your creative roadmap to a stunning handmade card!
A card sketch is like a treasure map, it shows you where to put different elements, but YOU get to decide the colors, patterns, and embellishments. I recently used a simple sketch from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalog to create my “Thinking of You” card, and the transformation was so fun! The sketch gave me a starting point, and my creativity took over from there! I started with making myself a template of this basic sketch from page 22 in the Annual Catalog.
To create my card, I started by embossing a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock with the Cane Weave 3D embossing folder. I cut it into 3 strips 1-1/4″ x 5-1/4″ and added them to a Crumb Cake Card base. I layered a 3″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock on a 3-1/8″ x 4-1/8″ Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The hearts are die cut in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie hearts from the Friends for Life Dies. The sentiment is from the Greetings for All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. I couldn’t resist adding a few of the Iridescent Faceted Gems for some sparkle.

Inside my card I added a few Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie hearts also die cut from the Friends for Life dies. If you’ve ever felt stuck staring at a blank card base, try using a sketch as inspiration! Start with a simple one, like the one I used here, and make it your own with different colors, patterns, or embellishments.

I’m also using the Friends for Life Dies in my Ink & Stamp Card Club this month, which features the Friends for Life Bundle. Click Here or the image below for more information and to register. Hurry registration closes March 20, 2025!
